Jorie wasn't in the Marine Corps very long, almost 1 year. She enlisted on July 17 July 
1943 and was discharged on May 20, 1944. 

She told me that basic training was horrible. I am surprised they took her in to the 
corps. She was so tiny, she wore size 0-2 clothes at that time. During basic she would 
go in the womens bathroom and stand on the toilet when they would come in looking 
for her because some of the exercises would make her sick but they really didn't care.

 She was a clerk-typist and was stationed in Washington DC. At the time part of her 
duty was standing on the Pentagon roof looking for enemy planes.

Her name she had on her birth certificate was Josephine Marie and Jorie for short. 
She typed up a document and she signed it Jorie and they came back to her and 
made her change her name on her birth certificate instead of letting her retype the 
document. How dumb is that! 

She and Paul had 2 children, James Martin & Elizabeth Ann.
