John Evans 

John Powell Evans, 82, of Lubbock died Sunday, March 4, 2001, in Amarillo.

Cremation by Memory Garden Crematory will be under the direction of Blackburn-Shaw 
Funeral Directors of Amarillo.

He was born on Jan. 23, 1919, in El Paso.

He moved to Lubbock in 1977 from Albuquerque. He served in World War II as an 
army engineer. He retired as a general contractor. He was a member of the First 
Church of Christian Science in Lubbock.

Survivors include a daughter, Christy Evans of Houston; a sister, Claylia Evans of 
Harrisburg, N.C.,; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
