Cherri Lucille Pringle Evans, 89, of Olney passed away on Thursday, August 26, 2010.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 4, 10:00 a.m., at Lunns
Funeral Home Chapel in Olney.

Cherri was born June 13, 1921 in Hunt Community near Olney. She graduated from
Olney High School and Draughans Business College.

Cherri was always proud that she had had the opportunity to live and work on two of
New Mexicos largest ranches, Means H Bar Y and Evans L Bar. While her children
attended later grades in Olney, Cherri worked as an executive secretary for Judge
E.G. Thornton. She then moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico where she was executive
secretary at the historic La Fonda Hotel and Sheraton Hotel. Also while in Santa Fe
she worked for the state legislature and served as a docent at El Rancho De Las
Golondrians Museum. Santa Fe and the friendships made there held a special place in
her heart. After retirement and a permanent return to Olney she managed the family
farm. In younger years she worked and modeled for Neiman Marcus, Dallas.

Ms. Evans enjoyed art, traveling, reading and was a great cook. Designing clothes,
knitting, collecting and wearing hats gave her much pleasure. Cherri was an
exceptional horsewoman and was Olneys first rodeo queen. She especially loved
spending time with family, friends and pets. She was a member of Cumberland
Presbyterian Womens Ministry and an active participant in the Cumberland
Presbyterian weekly bible study class.

Cherri was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Era, a brother, Nolan Pringle,
two sons, John Nolan Evans and Henry Ell (Hank) Evans. She is survived by a
daughter Diane Evans, Maui, Hawaii and two granddaughters, Jennifer Evans
Marshall, Quanah, Texas and Julie Evans, Austin, Texas. Cherri also leaves behind a
chosen sister, Virginia Roper Bass and many cherished friends.

Memorials may be made to Cumberland Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 756, Olney,
Texas 76374 and Rathgeber House, 1615 12th St., Wichita Falls, Texas, 76301.
