Born Oct. 10, 1908, in Stevens County, to John and Eva Woods, he and his wife of 69 
years, Lottie Evans Woods operated the family ranch (EV) at Van Horn until his 
retirement in 1976. He was known for his lion hunting expertise.
He is survived by his wife; three sons, Tim Woods and wife, Betty of Chico, Beary 
Woods of Van Horn and John Paul Woods and wife, Susan of Austin; two daughters, 
Chance Hart of Albuquerque, N.M., and Judy Roach and husband, Monte of Lubbock; 
two sisters, Mary Bell and Faye Read, both of Trinity; grandchildren, Tracey Woods of 
Benbrook, Britt Woods and wife, D’Layna of Runaway Bay, Bob Woods of Dallas, Billy 
Woods of Richland Hills, Carolyn Edwards of Kingston, Okla., Victoria Miller of 
Corinth, Steven Gilstrap of Mexia and Deborah Jespersen and husband, Bill of Madill, 
Okla.; great-grandchildren, Seth and Garrett Woods of Chico, Gunner, Tucker and 
Ramsey Woods of Runaway Bay, Tyler Woods of Grapevine, Will and Sam Shepard of 
Arlington, Angela, Chastity and Krystal Edwards of Kingston, Okla., Justin Miller of 
Corinth and Kyle Gilstrap of Madill; and numerous nieces and nephews.
