Kelly H. Gubler died October 2, 2013 in Beaverton, Oregon.

He was born June 7, 1919 in Morgan, Utah to John and Alice Willamina Gubler. Kelly 
was educated in Salt Lake City and attended the University of Utah.

On May 3, 1937, he married Afton Hendricks. While still in Utah, their first daughter, 
Minalee, was born.

He moved his small family to Chicago, Illinois, where he attended and graduated from 
Northwestern University College of Medicine. At that time, their second daughter, 
LynAnn, was born.

He interned at Cook County General Hospital and upon completing his internship, 
served in the U.S. Army stationed at Indian Gap, Pennsylvania and Fort Lewis, 
Washington.

After being discharged, he did his surgical residency with the Veterans Administration 
Hospitals in Salt Lake City and Grand Junction, Colorado. Their third daughter, Janet, 
was born in Grand Junction. In 1952, the family moved to Tooele, Utah, where he 
became a partner in the Tooele Clinic.

Kelly was drafted into the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and was based at Hill 
Field, Utah. Their son, Dean, was born in Tooele during that time. After being 
discharged, he resumed his medical practice in Tooele. He retired in 1984 and was 
elected to the Tooele County Commission and served as its chairman.

In 1989, his wife Afton died. He married Dorothy Hughes Gillespie in 1990. She died in 
2000. Kelly married Geneve Buys Bains in 2001. She died in 2013.

Kelly was a member of the American College of Surgeons, the Southwest Surgical 
Society, the Salt Lake Surgical Society, and the Westerners Club.

He loved camping, hunting, fishing, and playing golf with his family and friends. During 
his lifetime, he had several wonderful dogs and believed his four-legged companions 
to be an essential part of his life. He passed this belief on to his entire family.

Kelly is survived by his children, Minalee (Joseph) Woodward, Mesquite, Nevada; 
LynAnn (Edward) McGinn, Santa Barbara, California; Jan (Jay) Woods, El Dorado Hills, 
California; and Dean (Barbara) Gubler, Portland, Oregon; six grandchildren, ten great-
granchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren, and several loving nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held at Tate Mortuary, 100 South and Main Street, from 6:00 to 
8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 14, 2013.
A private service will be held in the Tooele City Cemetery.
