Dorothy Alice Thomas Rumel, age 87, Salt Lake City, UT, passed away peacefully 
Wednesday, April 02, 2003 in Salt Lake City.

Alice was born Oct 26, 1915 in Pocatello, ID to W. J. "Jack" and Susan Alice 
Thomas. On Sept 21, 1935, she married Herbert Ernest Rumel in the Salt Lake LDS 
Temple. Alice was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day 
Saints.

Alice was an executive secretary for Bennett's Glass and Paint Company, both in 
Pocatello and Salt Lake City, more than 20 years. She was a member of the Wasatch 
Chapter of the American Business Women's Association (ABWA), holding many 
positions over the years, including chapter president. Alice, with her husband, Herb, 
was a longtime member of the Sons of Utah Pioneers. Alice was a Salt Lake Temple 
ordinance worker for 19 years, serving the first 15 of those years with Herb until his 
passing in 1988. She was a longtime teacher in the Young Women's program and MIA 
of the Church. Alice considered her family her most important calling, including 
grandchildren, great- grand-children, and many nieces and nephews. Alice never 
forgot a birthday.

Survivors include daughter, Pamela Rumel, Las Vegas, NV; son, John (Barbara) 
Rumel, Akron, OH; brother, Robert David (Dona) Thomas, West Jordan, UT; six 
grandchildren, Lizabeth (Bruce) Wallin, Rockford, IL, Lori (Marshall) Bosley, Las 
Vegas, NV, Susan VanBeuge, Las Vegas, NV, Jeffrey (Ana) Rumel, Akron, OH, Tracy 
(Sean) Hanna, Los Angeles, CA, Valerie (Kent) Blankenship, Ft. Wayne, IN; and 18 
great- grandchildren, Kelly, Evan, Michael, Christian, Paul, Stephanie, Joshua, Keith, 
Justin, Seth, Meredith, Lauren, Christopher, Matthew, Derek, Spencer, Nathan, 
Allison. Preceded in death by her parents; as well as brothers, Kenneth, Armand, 
Warren, Gwen.

Services will be Tues. April 8, 2003, 12 noon Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 S. 2300 E, 
where friends may call Mon. 6-8 p.m. and Tues. 10:45- 11:45 a.m. prior to the 
services. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
