a daughter Mary LANGDON of Kennedy NY; married to
GEORGE HENRY DOWNER, b 31 Dec, 1841. Upon the death of his mother, when he
was but eleven weeks old, he was adopted by Mr. and Mrs. Eber Ingraham, of
Thetford, Vt., and in 1856 rem with them to Arcade, N. Y. He graduated in
Feb, 1866, from the Medical Department of the University of Buffalo; later
attended lectures at Bellevue (N. Y.) College and University of
Pennsylvania; spent a year in European hospitals; practiced in Chautauqua
Co, N. Y., until 1882, when located at Buffalo, N. Y. In 1883 was an
organizer of the medical department, Niagara University, and was professor
of diseases of women and children. Later, when Buffalo and Niagara
Universities were united, he was made clinical professor of diseases of
women and children. He was for 15 years surgeon to the Sisters of Charity
Hospital in Buffalo, and organized the first training school for nurses ever
formed in a Catholic hospital. Is now surgeon to the Riverside and Erie Co
Hospitals, member of State and national medical societies, and a most
prominent physician of Buffalo. He is a member of the Masonic order. His
portrait is given elsewhere. He m (1st) in Oct, 1871, **Mary A., dau of
Laurens Langdon, of Kennedy, N. Y.; she d in Oct, 1873; m (2d) Sept, 1885,
Lucia Tiffany, widow of Lieut. Albert E. Sprague, U. S. N., and dau of Silas
Tiffany, of Jamestown, N. Y. No issue by either wife.
