Notes for FRANCIS DRAKE:
Obit: On Wednesday, May 15th, 1929, occured the death of our oldest citizen. Mr. 
Francis Drake, aged 99 years, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Charles Presler.
He was born in Ingleside, on March 10th, 1830 on the farm now owned by Eri Gibson. 
He was the son of the late Gilbert and Margery Relyea Drake, being the youngest of a 
family of thirteen children. He was united in marriage in 1854 with Emily A. Blodgett, 
who died a number of years ago. To this union were born three children, Sylva, who 
died in young woman hood: Sylvester, who passed on several years ago, and Ora, 
wife of Charles Presler, who had tenderly cared for him in his declining years. He also 
leaves four grandchildren. Six great grandchildren and several nephews and nieces to 
burn his loss.
Mr. Drake was a farmer by occupation and died on the farm.
Mr. Drake was well and favorably known and enjoyed a large circle of friends. He had 
an unusually cheerful disposition, and young and old enjoyed his company.
It has been a custom for a number of years past for his relatives to meet with him for 
his birthday. He seemed to especially enjoy these happy occasions up to the last. Mr. 
Drake had been a member of the Grange for a number of years.
The funeral was held from the Christian church on Saturday at 2 P.M., conducted by 
Rev. E. F. Mellotte. The funeral was largely attended, and the many and beautiful 
flowers were mute testimonial to the high esteem in which he was held. Burial was 
made in the old cemetery....
