James L. Whisler was born Nov. 28, 1897 in Albany, IL. He was the third of seven 
known children born to William and Ida (Rahm) Whisler. He grew up in Albany and 
Rock Island, IL and moved to Redondo Beach, CA around 1920.
He was married to Catherine E. Bell on Aug. 10, 1921 in Redondo Beach, CA. He 
worked as a mechanic and they had four known children. He passed away in 1938.
He was survived by wife, Catherine Whisler and four daughters, Margaret, Dorothy, 
Bernice and Laura Whisler, all of Redondo Beach, CA; brothers, William Whisler of 
Rock Island, IL, Thomas Whisler, David Whisler and Harold Whisler all of Los 
Angeles, CA; and sister, Mrs. Orvilla Sarah Reas.
He was preceded in death by father, William Whisler in 1926; mother, Ida Whisler in 
1927; and brother, Walter Whisler in 1916.
