Jenny T. Dastrup 

SALINA - Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-
grandmother and sister, Genevieve "Jenny" Torgensen Dastrup, 91, Salina, died Jan. 
23, 2001, in Richfield, of causes incident to age. 
She was born September 20, 1909, in Burrville, a daughter of Joseph and Chloe Burr 
Torgensen. She married Bardell Dastrup April 17, 1926, in Manti. Their marriage was 
later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. He died July 8, 1979. 
She is survived by her son, Newell D. and Colleen Dastrup, Salina; daughters-in-law, 
Thail Dastrup, Rose Dastrup and Olivia Dastrup; 17 grandchildren; 62 great-
grandchildren; 24 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Hazel Farnsworth. 
She was preceded in death by two sons, Ross B. Dastrup and Robert "Bob" J. 
Dastrup; three brothers and one sister, Arvin Torgensen, Max Torgensen, Clinton 
Torgensen and Lillian Cloward. 
Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 29, at noon in the Salina Second LDS Ward 
Chapel with Bishop Troy Lambertsen officiating. 
Kent Bardell Dastrup (grandson) gave the family prayer; Angelia Dastrup (great-
granddaughter) played harp music at the viewing and Jaclyn Sampson (great-
granddaughter) played the prelude and postlude music. Dan Dastrup (grandson) 
offered the invocation. 
A tribute was by Russell Scott Dastrup (grandson), with remarks by Bishop Troy 
Lambertsen. Speakers were Max Dastrup (grandson) and Carolyn Sampson 
(granddaughter), with remarks by Bishop Troy Lambertsen. 
Music included a violin duet of a medley of songs by Travis Dastrup and Brigham 
Dastrup (great-grandsons); a musical selection by the great-grandchildren and great-
great-grandchildren, "I Am A Child Of God," accompanied by Curtis Sampson (great-
grandson), and a hymn by the congregation, "Abide With Me," accompanied by Curtis 
Sampson (great-grandson), with Shannon Neal (great-granddaughter) as chorister. 
Paul Dastrup (grandson) offered the benediction. 
Interment was in the Salina Eastside Cemetery where Neal Dastrup (grandson) offered 
the dedicatory prayer. Pallbearers were (grandsons) David Dastrup, Billie Lee Tanner, 
Daniel Sampson, John Dastrup, Dustin Dastrup, Wayde Tanner, Jeff Dastrup and 
Bobby Dastrup. Honorary pallbearers were the great-grandsons. Funeral directors, 
Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina.
