Maurice J. Rogers
MIDDLEVILLE - Maurice J. Rogers, age 80, of Middlevill e, passed away Thursday, 
July 18, 1996 at his residence.
He was born July 12, 1916 in Canvis Township, Calhou n County, the son of Ernest 
and Lulu (Chapman) Rogers. [not e Canvis should read Convis]
He graduated from Bellevue High School and served in t he United States Marine Corp 
during World War II.
He was employed by Sherman Manufacturing and Mel Barto n Construction, retiring in 
1978.
He married Beatrice A. Buxton on October 9, 1940 and l ived in Middleville and 
Sebring, Florida.
He was preceded in death by brother, Kenneth Rogers; a nd grandson, Joshua John 
Rogers.
Mr. Rogers is survived by his wife, Beatrice A. Roger s of Middleville; daughters, 
Noralee (James) Rhodes of Hast ings, Anne (Timothy) Dempsey of Jonesville; son, 
Daryl (Sal ly) Rogers of Grand Rapids; seven grandchildren; one grea t grandchild; 
sisters, Marie Pilot of San Diego, Lois Elfri ng of Marshall, Norinne Cheeseman of 
Marshall; brother, Ver non Rogers of Battle Creek.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 22, 1996 at Gi rrbach Funeral Home in 
Hastings with tthe Reverend Kennet h R. Vaught officiating.
Burial was in Union Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Barry Communit y Hospice.
