EVANS Thomas E. ("Tom")
Birth: 1 Mar 1853 Tex.
Death: 28 Sep 1870 Tex.
Cause of Death: murdered by cattle thief
Notes
1981 book:
Tom did not marry. He was killed by a Mexican cattle thief. Tom and his brother
George (1E5544) chased cattle thieves into Mexico one day, crossing at Uvalde, Tex.
Tom was shot as he looked in the window of an abandoned house in which the
thieves had hidden. Tom asked George to carry him back to Texas so that he could
die on American soil. George did so, and Tom died the next morning.
