1900 census he is a boarder in Fort Bend Co., Texas
It lists him as a widower and Anna as b Jan 1892, single, age 8, he is 38. 
1910 in Justice Precinct 3, Cherokee Co., Tex. hired man, widower, says parents b in 
Texas. See notes under daughter's entry
In 1920 census, in Cherokee Co., Tex. farmer says parents born in Georgia!!! whereas 
on 1900 census did not list a birthplace for his parents. So is this him????
On 1870 census there is a James Mawl b 1862, living in Jackson Co with William and 
Louis Thomas. Quinn was born in Jackson Co. Nearby is George Menifee, b Tenn., 
related to Martha. So this is him. IN 1880 census he is James Maul, workingon a farm 
(as is the case in 1900 and 1920), listed as a boarder, shows no birthplace for father, 
shows mother born Tennessee. His stepmother was born in Tennessee. So what's 
going on? Why is he confused? But this is him

occ: farmer, has mother as Martha Stines
informant is Tom Jones (he is husband of Emma Herd, dtr of the widow farmer for 
whom Jim worked (1910 census))
