Cannot find him in 1830 through 1880, nor her.

11 Jun 1858 Springfield (Mass) Republican. "Mysterious Disappearance -- Dennison 
R. Whipple, formerly of North Adams, but engaged in a prosperous business in New 
Yor some two years since, left that city to collect some bills in Springfield, stating that 
he should visit North Adams on his return route, but he has not been seen either here 
or at North Adams, and circumstances indicate that he never left New York, but was 
secretly murdered in that city. He took with him no extra clothes neither a great 
amount of money, and it can hardly be supposed that he left for a foreign country." 
(but he enlists in the Union Army in 1861)
In the 1870 census for NYC there is a Melangton Whipple, 66, b NY, occ Comifiames 
(handwriting is awful), wife Margaret, 54 b Pa. Is this him, using some sort of name 
variation?
In 1860 census for NYC there is an Ellison R Whipple, 52, agent, b Mass., and 
Margaret J. Whipple, 35, b Va. Both these census entries must be them, taking into 
account the NY newspaper reports
With them on the 1860 census is Ella S. Whipple, age 13, b Ohio
In the 1850 census, Ella is in Newark, N.J. with David Whipple, 41, merchant, b. 
Mass., and Margaret, 28, b. Va. David is Dennison's brother. This is getting confusing!
