SOUTH PARIS - Helen Keene Curtis, 90, of 245 Lewiston St., Mechanic Falls, died 
March 3 at Market Square Health Care Center following a lengthy illness.

She was born in Mechanic Falls on Dec. 17, 1915, the daughter of Forrest A. and 
Alice I. Keene. She had been a resident of the community all her life.

She graduated from Mechanic Falls High School in 1934 and worked at the mill in 
Mechanic Falls and the shoe factory in Auburn.

She assisted her husband as a dam keeper at Middle Dam on Richardson Lake in 
Andover for 10 years.

Helen was a long-standing member of the Mechanic Falls Methodist Church and the 
United Methodist Women's Society, the Mechanic Falls Firemen's Women's Auxiliary 
as well as the Dwinal Chapter 28, Order of the Eastern Star.

She held the office of president with the Girl Scouts. She also had a Girl Scout 
wedding on June 15, 1935, to Edroy B. Curtis.

She was an avid hunting and fishing pal to her husband, and a loving and cherished 
grandmother to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her son, Gregory D. Curtis and his wife, Emma; four 
granddaughters, Linda A. Jahn and husband, Sonny, Cindy L. Morgan and her 
husband, Norman, Kelly J. Callahan and her companion, Tim Reese, and Maureen E. 
Berube and her companion, Al Garmon; two grandsons, Edroy B. Curtis II and his wife, 
Susan, and Gregory D. Curtis Jr. and his wife, Jeanette; 15 great-grandchildren; two 
great-great-grandchildren; plus several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Edroy B. Curtis; her daughter, Joyce E. Wing; 
two brothers, Robert Keene and Richard Keene; and a sister, Marjorie Martin.
