Anna Phelps 

MATTOON - Anna Gertrude Phelps, 88, of Mattoon died at 1:15 a.m. Tuesday (Sept. 
5, 2006) at Mattoon Health Care Center, Mattoon. 

 Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Schilling Funeral Home, 1301 
Charleston Ave., Mattoon. Jim Dona will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven 
Memorial Gardens, Mattoon. 

 Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. 

 Mrs. Phelps was born Aug. 25, 1918, in Humboldt Township, Coles County, a 
daughter of Marshal and Mary Prudencie Downs Nelson. She married Garl Clinton 
Phelps on Oct. 15, 1938, in St. Charles, Mo. He died June 16, 1994. 

 Survivors include two sons, Richard Garl Phelps of Mercer Island, Wash., and 
Thomas Leon Phelps of Mapleton; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. 

 She was preceded in death by a daughter, five brothers and two sisters. 

 Mrs. Phelps was a member of Ash Grove Christian Church. 

 Memorials may be made to Mattoon Food Center or Ash Grove Christian Church.
