Bettie Louise Murray, 84, Marion, died at 12 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, in Lutheran 
Hospital, Fort Wayne. She was born in Marion, Ind., to the late Carl and Clara (Moon) 
Cox. She married Merwin Dale Murray, Aug 20, 1856 Grant Co In, who preceded her in 
death.

She retired from the Marion Police Department where she worked as secretary. Former 
employment included positions with Indiana Bell Telephone, the Substance Abuse 
Center, Cox Ford and the Grant County Clerk's Office. Being a 1946 graduate of Van 
Buren Township High School, Bettie was active on the reunion committee. She was a 
in the VFW Auxiliary, Gas City. Along with her husband, she was formerly active in the 
American Legion. Bettie was everyone's favorite aunt and was greatly loved by all.

Survivors include her nephew, Steven E. (Patricia) Bennett, Fort Wayne; niece, 
Rhonda (Wayne) Louks, Indianapolis; great nephew, Steven Patrick (Laura) Bennett; 
great nieces, Stephanie Ann (Adam) Garman, Machelle Marie Snyder and Marci 
Danielle Louks.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Merwin D. Murray; daughter, Tedretta Jo 
Murray; parents, Carl and Clara (Moon) Cox; sister, Doris Elaine Bennett; brother, 
Kenneth Cox; half-brothers, Carl Cox, Ivan Cox, Howard Cox and Loren Cox.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 15 in Jefferson Cemetery, Upland, 
with Chaplain Mark Bardsley officiating.

Memorial services are from 2 to 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15 in Grace Community Church 
with a reception following from 3 to 4 p.m. at the church.

400 East Main Street, Gas City, IN 46933.
