Joan Rumel Child Cederlof passed away on January 3, 2010 at Christus St. Joseph 
Villa following complications from severe dementia. 

She was born July 11, 1926 to Bertha Derrick Rumel and Thomas Battersby Child in 
Salt Lake City. 

She married Dale Bjork Cederlof on September 26, 1944 in the Salt Lake Temple. 
Before her marriage Joan was an accomplished pianist and after her marriage she 
played the accompaniment for the road shows her husband Burke wrote. She loved to 
sing and she and her husband sang duets together at family gatherings and for others. 
She also sang in a trio with two of her very good friends. She was very active in The 
Daughters of the Utah Pioneers serving as Captain of her ward camp and directing the 
D. U. P. Chorus for many years until they disbanded.

She was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in several Relief Society 
Presidencies, Relief Society Chorister, and various callings in the Primary, serving as 
chorister for twenty-five years. 

She loved little children's voices. She was an outstanding cook and always prepared 
meals for those in need of help. She loved everyone and always was positive even 
though she was in pain. She shared her smile and kindness with everyone she met. 

She is survived by her five children, Ann (Ralf), Paul (Debbie), Perry (Cheryl), Craig, 
and Dale, thirteen grandchildren, and twenty-eight great-grandchildren. She was 
preceded in death by her husband D.B. Cederlof. 

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 8, 2010 in the Wasatch Ward Chapel, 
1750 South 1500 East, Salt Lake City, Utah, at 12:00 p.m., with a viewing from 10:45
-11:45 a.m. prior to the services. 
Interment will be in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
