Virginia (Ginger) Franta, age 77, of N. Canton, died Tuesday in Mercy Medical Center 
after an extended illness. Born in Gary, IN, she had been a Canton area resident most 
of her 

 life. She had formerly been employed by the Stern Mann Co. and at Ohio Bell as a 
service representative. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church where she 
served as a greeter. Ginger was an avid tennis player, and was an expert skier. She 
enjoyed skiing in Colorado. She spent many happy hours working with her beautiful 
stitchery. She was an inspirational and active partner with her artist husband, Tom, in 
his water color business. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Valerie Franta, a 
son, Maurice Franta, her parents, Ralph and Ethel Cropley, and two brothers, William 
and Robert Cropley. Survived by her husband, Thomas J. Franta, of the home; a 
grandson, Robert (Rob) Clow of Texas; a sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Dick 
Halteman of N. Canton; a sister-in-law, Jane Cropley of N. Canton; a brother-in-law 
and sister-in-law, Ed and Marge Franta of Canton, and many nieces and nephews. A 
Mass of Christian burial will be Friday at 10:00 a.m. in St. Michael's Catholic Church 
with Fr. Joseph Zamary as Celebrant. Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery. Friends 
may call Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the Lamiell Funeral Home and on Friday from 9-10 
a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Michael's Church.
