prob the Hubert L. Person who was Associate Silviculturist for the U.S. Forest 
Service, at the California Forest and Range Experiment Station in Berkeley. He 
documented the planning for acquisition of areas suitable for redwood experimental

In 1983 he was living in Danville and was interviewed.
wrote "The need for additional research in the Redwood
Region", dated 7-26-1937.
then went into the Forest Service so wasn't around when the purchases were made for 
the redwoods

science staff of the Stephen F. Austin Experimental Forest in Texas (1945-1953).

 Hubert L. Person, an employee of the U.S. Forest Service, died Thursday in Walnut 
Creek. He was 95. 

 The native of Minnesota lived in Danville before moving to Walnut Creek eight years 
ago. He was a member of the Democrat and Chrysanthemum clubs. 

 He is survived by his daughter, Janet Fears of Milford, Conn.; son, Donald Person of 
Pleasanton; and four grandchildren. His wife, Carol Person, died in 1993.
