Mae Estelle Godden was born July 3, 1884 in Lawrence, Kansas. She was the 
daughter of William Crow Beggs (born in Ashland, Illinois) and Cora Agnes Richards 
(born in Uniontown, Ohio). She had lived continuously in washington since 1936.

She was the widow of Lewis R. Godden, Spanish American War Veteran, whom she 
married December 10, 1902 at Paso Robles, California. Mr. Godden died June 23, 
1949 at Sawtelle, California. Two of their children were Paul Russell Godden of 
Northbridge, California and Esther F. Mackenzie of Schenectady, New York.

Mrs. Godden died at the age of 77 at the Veterans Home and is buried in the Home 
Cemetery. She had been a resident of the home for eight years.
