Anne E. Zimmerman died of cancer peacefully at her home in Des Moines on Monday, 
Sept. 3, 2007. The body was cremated and a celebration of her life service and 
reception will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, at Westminster Presbyterian 
Church, Beaver and Allison avenues.

 Born in California on Jan. 11, 1942, Anne was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur 
John Eggenberger. She held a Bachelor of Arts degree from Northwestern University, 
Evanston, Ill., and a master??(TM)s degree from UCLA. She married Kent Zimmerman 
in 1975. They moved to Iowa in late 1984.

 Anne was a strategic communications professional and, in 1991, founded the 
Zimmerman Company. Previous to that, she served three years as communications 
director to Governor Terry E. Branstad. From 1984-88, she was an assistant professor 
in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Drake University. Previous to 
coming to Des Moines, she worked for The Public Relations Board, Chicago, Ill.

 Anne served on the Iowa Board of Dental Examiners, on the boards of directors of 
several non-profit organizations, and was a member of Public Relations Society of 
America. She also volunteered for several non-profit organizations, was a member of 
Tap Des Moines and a local book club. She was a member of Westminster 
Presbyterian Church.

 She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Kent; her 
mother-in-law, Mrs. Jane Zimmerman of Kankakee, Ill.; a sister- and brother-in-law, 
Lynn and David McCreery of Glenview, Ill; two nieces, a grand niece and several 
cousins; and her long time mentor and very close friend, Marilee Walker of Studio City, 
Calif., as well as many friends in Iowa, Chicago, and California.

 Memorial donations can be made to the Westminster Presbyterian Church Foundation 
and the Wallace House Foundation, Des Moines, Iowa.
