Following a long illness, Rawdon Myers, his preferred name, died quietly in his home at 
age 88. Mary Louise Myers, his wife of 15 years and Hospice personnel were in 
attendance at the time of his death on November 23, 2001.

Rawdon worked for New Britain Machine before he became founding President of 
Rawdon Myers, Incorporated of Cincinnati, OH. He sold his company upon retirement 
to Florida but remained a consultant for the following ten years.

Born in Hartford, CT, as a young man he spent his summers in Fenwick. He was an 
avid sailor and won many sailing cups including one with actress Katherine Hepburn 
as his crew. He was also a life long tennis player and played Tony Trabert at the 
Cincinnati Tennis Club. He was a graduate of Kent School in 1932 and Princeton 
University in 1936.

Rawdon was a Mason, a member of the Scottish Rite and a Shriner.

He worked as a volunteer at Martin Memorial Medical Center and at the Elliot Museum 
focusing on their Train Exhibits. He was known for his inventions and as a "tinkerer, 
par excellence". Recognizing the value of seat belts when piloting his own aircraft, he 
put seatbelts in his cars before they were even offered by automobile manufacturers. 
He was also known for an inimitable sense of humor regaling his friends with jokes and 
his famous signs up until the very end of his life.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Louise Myers, four sisters, three daughters: Jackie 
Callis Vitty of Montgomery, AL, Margaret Paul of Fort Bragg, CA and Emily Myers of 
Chadds Ford, PA; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Doris Templeton Myers.

A Memorial Service will be held at Aycock Funeral Home in Jensen Beach on Friday, 
November 30, 2001 at 1:00 PM, with Reverend Dr. Les A. Koerselman officiating.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Hospice of Martin & St. Lucie, 
Inc., 2030 SE Ocean Boulevard, Stuart, FL 34996
