Elizabeth Myers Parish, 94, of Naples, died peacefully on September 1, 2007. Zib, as 
she was better known, was born April 24, 1913 in St. Paul, MN to Paul N. and Reine 
H. Myers. She attended Summit School in St. Paul, Mills College in Oakland, CA and 
graduated from Connecticut College in New London, CT in 1936. In 1936, she married 
John Cook Parish of Beverly Hills, CA. They raised four children and lived in St. Paul, 
MN. Mr. Parish was a senior executive with The St. Paul Companies. In 1963, she and 
her husband bought a condominium in Naples. They moved here permanently in the 
early 1980s. Mrs. Parish enjoyed focusing her energies to improve the quality of life in 
St. Paul and elsewhere. She was a member of and chaired several cultural and health 
care organizations in the Twin Cities such as The Salem Foundation, St. Paul United 
Way and St. Paul Children's and Miller Hospitals. The same energy and involvement 
by both Mrs. Parish and her husband were transported to Naples and continued until 
their deaths. Mrs. Parish leaves a beautiful and energetic legacy to all who have 
known her. She is survived by her children, John (Elizabeth) C. Parish of Castine, ME, 
Michael M. Parish of St. Paul, Judith Parish (Richard) Diedrich of Sarasota, FL and 
Robert (Betsy) S. of Wayzata, MN. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Brooke 
(Julia) Parish, Susan Parish (Josh) Adam, Betsy Parish (Steve) Lieser, Judy Parish 
(Kip) Oberting, Christopher Parish, Heather Parish, Pamela Diedrich (Ronald) Rami, 
Stuart (Lesly) Diedrich, John (Martha) Diedrich, Rob (Amy) Parish and Margaret Parish 
(Adam) Gildner; and her 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her 
husband, John; two brothers, Paul N. Myers Jr. and John H. Myers; and daughter-in-
law, Rozie A. Parish. There will be a memorial service Sunday, September 9th, 2:00 
p.m., Trinity-By-TheCove Episcopal Church, 553 Galleon Drive, Naples, FL 34102. 
Internment will be private. Donations in her memory may be sent to TrinityBy-TheCove 
Episcopal Church, Naples, the Church of St. John the Evangelist, 60 Kent Street, St. 
Paul, MN 55102 or a charity of choice.
