Alvin was born to John Peter and Pearl Ora (Otos) Olson in Bucyrus, ND. He attended 
Hettinger High School. He was in the Coast Guard in WW II. He ranched in North 
Dakota and worked overseas in construction.
 He was married to Rosalia Olson on October 21, 1981, who survives him. He is also 
survived by a daughter, Terry Ann Toivonen, and a sister Judith Garlington, of MN.
