Reid Lowery (89) was born in Arcadia, CA on August 11, 1923 and passed away in 
Porterville on March 21, 2013.

Reid grew up on a citrus Grove and graduated from Covina High School, Class of 
1941. Reid enlisted in the Army/Air Corp in November of 1942 and served his country 
during World War 11 as a decorated airman/photographer stationed in Italy reaching 
the rank of Sergeant.

After the service to his country, Reid owned Covina Sporting Goods in Covina, CA 
until 1960, when he moved to Strathmore to become a citrus grower. He worked as a 
machinist/pattern maker for Waterman Industries in Exeter for over 25 years until his 
retirement in 1988. He continued to work part time with his passion of being a 
machinist for E.M. Tharp in Cotton Center. He enjoyed traveling and working in his 
shop on various metal and woodworking projects. Reid married his high school 
sweetheart, Marjorie "Marge" in 1944 and was married just shy of 69 years. They have 
three children: Susanne (deceasded), George and his wife Mary of Porterville, Robert 
and his wife, Barbara of Arroyo Grande; two grandchildren and four great-
grandchildren.

Reid was a proud member of the American Legion and a life time member of the NRA.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 on Wednesday, March 27 at the First United 
Methodist Church on Morton in porterville followed by a reception. Private family 
interment will be at the Lindsay-Strathmore Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Salvation Army at 
www.salvationarmy.org.
