Janet Joy Longden Greathead May 21, 1926 ~ February 23, 2009 SALINAS - Janet 
Joy Longden Greathead, 82, passed away on Monday, February 23, 2009 at her home. 
Born May 21, 1926 in San Jose, CA, she attended grammar school through high school 
in San Jose and graduated from San Jose State University in 1948. While at San Jose 
State, Janet was an active member of the Gamma Phi Beta Sorority. She married 
Arthur S. Greathead at Westminster Presbyterian Church in 1949, this February 
celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary. Janet lived a very active lifestyle with her 
family and friends including volunteer work. Her passion was her family and their 
activities. She met every situation with humor and quick wit. She was privileged to 
travel worldwide, donating her time to many worthy causes. She was an avid tennis 
player. She was a life member in the Presbyterian Church. Her husband of 60 years, 
Arthur S. Greathead, daughter, Nancy Borino and son-in-law, Ken Feske, son Denis 
Greathead and his family, Joann and Jason plus many in-laws, nieces and nephews 
request that in-lieu of flowers, donations be made to the following charities: Memorial 
Fund Northminster, American Heart Association, Rancho Santa Marta Children's Home. 
Traveling by rail or sea, overseas or domestic, she made friends where ever she 
ventured. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 27, 2009 in the 
Northminster Presbyterian Church, 315 E. Alvin Dr., Salinas, CA 93906. Arrangements 
are by the Struve and Laporte Chapel. For additional information visit:
