SMITH Virginia M. "Grandma Ginny" Virginia M. Smith (Grandma Ginny) of Grand
Rapids, Ohio, passed peacefully early Tuesday morning, September 5, 2006, at St.
Vincent's Mercy Medical Center. She was 84 years old. She was born the second child
of Henry and Mabel Marguerite (Scott) Zeck on October 30, 1921, in Toledo, who
both preceded her in death. Her brother, Walter Zeck (Ellen) and first husband,
William (Bill) Adams, also preceded her in death. She married Oval C. Smith on
September 13, 1975. She is survived by her husband, Oval Smith; brother, Richard
Zeck (Barbara); daughters, Linda L. Ramm (Larry) and Cathie (Shepler) Adams; six
granddaughters, Tracy (Ramm) Kennedy, Brandy (Butler) Rogers, Nicole (Butler)
Zaborowski, Monica (Ramm) Anderson, Rickelle (Butler) Litten and Roxanne (Butler)
Smith and 12 1/2 great-grandchildren, Tessa, Georgia, Ezekiel, Kyleigh, Becca,
Amelia, Emma, Olivia, Zane, Leland, Clay, Kaysey, and one on the way. She is also
survived by step-daughter, Melody Smith (and husband, Tony George); step-
granddaughter, Amber Mori (Bruce) and step-great-grand children, Nicholas, Allison
and Andrew. She and her husband, Bill Adams, owned Dutch Village carryout on
Airport Highway in Holland from 1963 to 1974 (she was very proud of this
accomplishment) and worked in The Andersons Ford Street warehouse for fifteen
years before she retired (she loved working for Jim Anderson). She was affiliated with
Grace Lutheran Church in Weston, Ohio and also attended services at St. Paul's
Lutheran in Maumee and Calvary Assembly of God on Glendale in Toledo. She lived
her life for her children and grandchildren and was a "constant" in all of our lives. She
made us very proud of her as a woman, wife, mother and grandmother and will be
missed immensely. We love her "way high up to the sky" and look forward to seeing
her again someday. Friends will be received in the Neville Funeral Home Southwest
Chapel, 7438 Airport Highway, Holland (419-865-8879) from 2-9 p.m. Thursday where
funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, September 8, 2006, with Pastor Roger
Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Springfield Township Cemetery. Those planning
an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a charity of the donor's choice.
