MATTOON -Mabel Laura Quayle, 100, of Mattoon died 6:14 p.m. Monday (April 19, 
1993) in Odd Fellow Rebekah Home, Mattoon. 
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Odd Fellow Rebekah Home, Mattoon with 
visitation one hour before services. Burial will be in Duncan Cemetery rural Keyesport. 
Schilling Funeral Home, Mattoon, is in charge of arrangements. 

Mrs. Quayle was born on Monday, Nov. 14, 1892, in rural Keyesport, the daughter of 
James Buchanan and Ida Vilura Scott Apple. She was a homemaker and past 
president of Rebekah State Assembly of Illinois, past president of Rebekah District 17 
and a member and past noble grand of the Starlight Rebekah Lodge 767, Decatur. 
She was also past worthy matron of the Owen Scott Chapter 984 Order of the Eastern 
Star, Decatur, past president of Macon County Association of Rebekah, past president 
of the Women’s Council of Macon County and past president of Women’s Republican 
Study Club. She married Glenn O. Quayle in 1914. He preceded her in death in 1973. 

Surviving are three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one great-great-
grandchild. 

She was preceded in death by one son, two brothers and four sisters.
