Katrina Chandler May, daughter of Sally Florence of Durango and Chris May of 
Ignacio, passed away in a car wreck near Missoula, Montana in the afternoon of May 
8, 2013. An avid outdoorswoman and friend to all she knew, she was going on a river 
raft trip with her companion Dave Crow, who also perished. She was born in Durango 
May 30, 1990 and attended Durango High School. She graduated with honors from the 
University of Montana in Bozeman in 2012 and was employed in Bozeman by a local 
graphic arts firm. She is survived by her parents and her stepmother Claire May, and 
her brother John May and sister-in-law Rhea May of Morrison, Colorado. A memorial 
potluck will be held on Saturday June 1, 2013 at 4pm at the Rotary Park in Durango 
for family and friends to gather and remember them. Refreshments will be provided. 
She will be missed by everyone in the west who knew her. When we see a river 
running, we will think of her.
