Visitation for Raymond H. Scott, 86, will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Kimball
Funeral Home in Pullman. Service is planned for 2 p.m. Thursday at Simpson United
Methodist Church in Pullman. Burial will follow at the Pullman Cemetery.
Mr. Scott, who was born in Missoula, died Friday.
He married Joyce Paulson in 1941.
Mr. Scott served in the Navy during World War II in the Pacific.
He received a doctorate from Ohio State University in 1962.
Mr. Scott worked in various fields, including ship repair, and was a painting and
decorating contractor, retailer and professor. In 1968 he retired as lieutenant
commander from the Naval Reserve, and in 1977 as department chairman of business
administration at Washington State University.
He participated in the Pullman Council on Aging, the Eastern Washington Area on
Aging, the State Legislature Long-term Care Commission and the White House
Conference on Aging.
Mr. Scott was a member of the Pullman Chamber of Commerce, the Reserve Officers
and Retired Officers associations and the Cougar Club.
His wife died in 1983.
Survivors include a son, Tim Scott of Waverly, Kan.; a brother, Walter Scott of Mesa,
Ariz.; and four grandchildren.

PULLMAN -- Raymond H. Scott of Pullman, a retired Washington State University
professor, died of cancer Friday at his home. He was 86.
He was born Jan. 7, 1914, in Missoula, Mont., to Isaac and Lucy Rutledge Scott.
He worked in a variety of jobs, including ship repair, retailer, professor and painting
and decorating contractor.
Scott married Joyce Paulson in 1941.
He earned his doctoral degree from Ohio State University in 1962.
He served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He retired as a
lieutenant commander in the U.S. Naval Reserves in 1968.
Scott retired as chairman of the business administration department at WSU in 1977.
He was active in Eastern Washington Area on Aging, State Legislative Long-Term
Care Commission, Pullman Council on Aging, and White House Conference on Aging.
He was also active in Pullman Chamber of Commerce, the Reserve Officers, Retired
Officers Association and the Cougar Club.
Survivors include his son, Tim Scott of Waverly, Kan.; a brother, Walter Scott of
Mesa, Ariz.; a sister, Helen Valentine of Mesa; and four grandchildren.
His wife preceded him in death.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Kimball Funeral Home in Pullman.
His funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Simpson United Methodist Church
in Pullman with The Rev. Rand O'Donnell officiating.
Burial will follow at the Pullman Cemetery.
The family suggests memorials go to the Pullman Memorial Hospital.
