Edith was a graduate of Old Fort, Ohio, High School. She taught at Old Fort
and Clinton Twp., Seneca Co., Ohio, schools for 52 years. Edith was a member of the
Old Fort United Methodist Church and of its Missionary Society and Loyal Workers
Society, as well as a charter member of the Gleaners' Sunday School. Edith also was
a member of Old Fort Grange, the Auxiliary of Pleasant Union Cemetery, the Tri Sigma
Class of Washington Street United Methodist Church, and the state and national
Retired Teacher Associations.
Edith lived in Old Fort until 1944, and then at 355 Benner Street in Tiffin,
Ohio, until her death.
For several years before her death, Edith was virtually blind; when the
author met her in 1979 she recounted seven generations of genealogical information
about the descendants of John Maule (1EE1), and knew almost every person in
northwestern Ohio who was descended from him.
Edith did not marry.
Funeral services were held on July 3, 1980, at the Turner-Engle Funeral
Home in Tiffin, Ohio, officiated by the Rev. D. O. Wilfong.
