Funeral services for Mrs. Emma Rumel Woolley, 74, life-long Church worker and Relief 
Society member, widow of the late Bishop Edwin T. Woolley, will be held Friday at 1 
p.m. in the Ninth ward, with Bishop Lep Thayne officiating.  
Speakers will be Elder Levi Edgar Young, of the Council of Seventy, and A. H. 
Woolley, a cousin of Bishop Woolley. Interment will be in City cemetery.  
Mrs. Woolley died at her home, 358 Fifth East street, early Tuesday morning following 
a prolonged illness. She was the mother of Ralf R. Woolley, engineer for the U. S. 
geological survey.  
She was born here Jan. 14, 1860, daughter of John H. and Eliza Gray Rumel. She 
attended pioneer schools of Salt Lake and Ogden, and graduated from the University 
of Deseret, after which she taught school. In 1882 she married Bishop Woolley, for 
many years manager of the Consolidated Wagon and Machine company in Ogden. She 
made ber home there from 1886 to 1909. Bishop Woolley died in 1924.  
Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. E. R. Lyon and Mrs. Alice R. Margetts, Salt Lake; 
seven sons and daughters, Ralf R. and Heber R. Woolley, Salt Lake; Mrs. Orla W. 
Wood, Berkeley, Mrs. Florence W. Ball, Winthrop, Mass.; Adrian R. Woolley, Denver; 
Mrs. Luella W. George, Mrs. Eleanor W. Lee, Los Angeles and 13 grandchildren.

Emma Rummel Woolley, 74, life-long Church and Relief Society worker, widow of the

engineer for the U. S. geological survey, died this morning at her home here, 358 Fifth 
East street, following a month's illness.  
Mrs. Woolley was born here Jan. 14, 1860, the daughter of J. H. and Eliza Gray 
Rummel. She attended the pioneer schools of Salt Lake and later the University of 
Deseret, and for some time taught school in and around Salt Lake, In 1882 she 
married Bishop Edwin T. Woolley, for many years manager of the Consolidated Wagon 
& Machine company in Ogden. She made her home in Ogden from 1886 to 1909. 
Bishop Woolley died here in 1924.  
Mrs. Woolley is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Eliza R. Lyon and Mrs. Alice R. Margetts, 
and seven children: Ralf R. Woolley and Heber Woolley of Salt Lake City; Mrs. Orla 
W. Wood, Berkeley, Cal.; Mrs. Florence W. Ball, Winthrop. Mass.; Adrian Woolley of 
Denver; Mrs. Luella W. George and Mrs. Eleanor W. Lee of Los Angeles. Thirteen 
grandchildren survive.  
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 1 p.m. in the Ninth ward chapel with 
Bishop Leo Thayne officiating. Speakers will be Elder Levi Edgar Young of the Council 
of the Seventy, and A. H. Woolley, a cousin of Bishop Woolley. Interment will be in 
the City??
