Mrs. Colin B. Holman (otherwise known as Kathryn, Kaye or Kataye) was born March 
31, 1918, in Enterprise, Kansas. She was the only child of Lela and Louis Puryear. 
Kaye grew up in Seattle, Wash.  After graduating from Roosevelt High School, she 
attended the University of Washington where she was a member of Kappa Alpha 
Theta Sorority. She graduated with a B.A. in Liberal Arts.
  
Kaye married Colin Holman in 1941, and they raised three children, Eloise, Kathy and 
Bill in Rochester.  Colin was a physician at the Mayo Clinic, and Kaye was a 
homemaker, an avid bridge player, and an active member of the Alice Mayo Society 
and the League of Women Voters. The Holman’s were happily married for 67 years 
until Colin’s death in 2008.
 
Kaye passed away peacefully in the early morning of Oct. 29, 2012. She was 94 
beautiful years young and had lived life to the fullest. 

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Eloise and Bruce Zelk of Camano 
Island, Wash.; her daughter, Kathy Holman, of Sandpoint, Idaho; and her son and 
daughter-in-law, Bill and Diane Holman, of Sandpoint, Idaho. She is also survived by 
her grandchildren, Katie Wigal (Todd), Rob Zelk (Ashley) and Brigitte Yamamoto 
(Matt). Kaye has two great-grandchildren as well, Addie and Colin Wigal. She also 
leaves behind many cousins, nieces and nephews on both sides of the family.

Kaye was a wonderful, caring person with a terrific sense of humor. She will be truly 
missed.

A family memorial will be held Thursday. Nov. 8, at 2 p.m at Acacia Memorial Park, 
14951 Bothell Way NE, Seattle, WA 98155. 206-362-5525.

Remembrances may be made to the favorite charity of the donor's choice.
