Deceased Name: Patrick Sweeney
Patrick Sweeney, 52, a clerk in Mayor Dianne Feinstein's office, died Monday after 
being struck by an automobile at Turk and Lyon streets. 

A native of Indiana, Mr. Sweeney had worked in the mayor's office as a clerk-typist 
since 1979. 

"We have lost a close colleague and a dear, sweet man," Feinstein said yesterday. 

Before joining the mayor's staff, Mr. Sweeney taught classes in comparative literature 
at Lone Mountain College in San Francisco. His also ran a small printing shop in his 
basement. 

Mr. Sweeney was regarded by fellow workers as the resident computer expert, and his 
designs were used in the mayor's annual budget proposal. A published poet, he 
founded and edited VS Interface, a newsletter for Northern California computer users. 

He is survived by his wife, Sharon, and two children, Paul and Emily. A private funeral 
service will be held tomorrow. 

The mayor has created a memorial fund to help provide for Mr. Sweeney's family.
