SPRINGFIELD - Elizabeth "Betty" (Janney) Sanborn Felder, 93, of Reeds Landing died 
on March 20, 2004. Born in Baltimore, MD she was the daughter of the late Dr. 
Francis Janney and Cora (Barker) Claibourne. A longtime Springfield resident, she 
formerly resided in Longmeadow, Wilbraham and Fountain Hills, Arizona. Betty was a 
graduate of Classical High School, Class of 1929 and retired in 1971 from the 
Wilbraham office of the U.S. Postal Service. She was a member of Kingdom Hall 
Jehovah Witness Sixteen Acres, and formerly a member of Grace Union Church, 
Wilbraham. At one time she was active in Girl Scouting, a member and Past Worthy 
Matron of Corona Chapter O.E.S., a member and past president of the World 
Federalists (a United Nations Support Organization), an officer in the State Chapter 
Needle Work Guild of America. Betty was a gracious lady with a wonderful sense of 
humor who took great joy in her family and friends. She is the widow of Murray Felder 
who died in 1994, and her first husband Herbert Sanborn who died in 1979. She 
leaves 3 daughters, Anne Cosgrove of Wilbraham, Dr. Jane Ergood of Athens, Ohio, 
and Barbara Yeager of Agawam; 6 grandchildren, Laurel Carman of Feeding Hills, MA, 
David Carman of Vacaville, CA, Holly Sanborn of Beaverton, Oregon, Susan Welcome 
of Cincinnati, Ohio, Christopher Ergood of Pittsford, NY, Joel Ergood of San Francisco, 
CA; and 11 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and her caregiver of 7 
years, Kay Nicely. The family is most appreciative of the care and support from the 
members of Kingdom Hall Jehovah's Witness of Sixteen Acres. Funeral Services are 
Friday at 11am at Byron Funeral Home, 1858 Allen Street. Burial at Woodland Dell 
Cemetery, Wilbraham. Family and Friends are invited to visit Friday 10:30-11am prior to 
service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Baystate Visiting Nurse Assoc.
