Marie Irene Whitney, 87, died Tuesday at the Van Dora Nursing Home on Central 
Street. She was the wife of the late Elroy E. Whitney.  
Born in Westbrook, Maine on Aug. 25, 1912, she was the daughter of the late John 
King and Mary (Gagnon) King, and had lived in Foxboro for the past five years. 
Educated in Westbrook, Maine, Mrs. Whitney had lived in Norwood and was manager 
of the former Parke, Snowe & Kline department store there.  
She is survived by a son, John Whitney of Foxboro; a daughter, Donna Marshall of 
Manchaug, Mass; a brother, Raymond King of Dorchester; 7 grandchildren and 12 
great-grandchildren.  
A funeral Mass will be held at 9 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Church, Carpenter Street. 
The Rev. Thomas J. Reilly, pastor of St. Mary's Church, will officiate.  Published May
