Deceased Name: DAVIS M. BALLARD

NEWPORT NEWS - Davis Macon "Buddy" Ballard, 63, died Thursday, Dec. 19, 1996, 
at his residence. A native of Richmond, he had been a Peninsula resident for 58 
years. 
Mr. Ballard served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 to 1956. He retired from Newport 
News Shipbuilding in 1993 after 37 years of service. He was a member of Temple 
Baptist Church and attended First Presbyterian Church. Mr. Ballard was an all-star 
basketball player from 1951 to 1952 at Newport News High School. He coached Deer 
Park Little League for many years. 
Survivors include his beloved wife, Ann G. Ballard; his daughter, Pamela B. Daniels; 
his son, Darrell C. Ballard; his stepfather, Walter H. Schmidt, all of Newport News; his 
sister, Barbara B. Watts of Birmingham, Ala.; and three grandchildren. 
The family will receive friends Sunday from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home. 
A funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Monday at Peninsula Funeral Home by Dr. 
Eugene S. Soud. Burial will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park. 
Memorials may be made to Riverside Hospice Home Care Program, 500 J. Clyde Morris 
Blvd., Newport News, Va. 23601.
