His estate the subject of Ogden Estate, 69 D&C2d 627 (1974). Helen Tharp filed 
petition to remove John M Ogden as guardian of Carroll E Ogden, on allegation he 
failed to mention her existence in the accounting. Says Carroll died 9 Jan 1974

[Age] 74, former Swarthmore College Star athlete and retired Boothwyn, Upper 
Chichester Postmaster, whose father was one of the township's first settlers, died 
Wednesday of a heart attack. Mr. Ogden lived most of his life in Ogden Section of 
Upper Chichester which today bears his family name.  The train Station was named 
after the family when the railroad came through in 1885. He graduated in 1917 from 
Chester High School, where he played baseball and in 1926 from Swarthmore College 
where he played football and was captain of the Varsity baseball team. For several 
years during the 1920s and 1930s, Mr Ogden played semi-pro baseball with the Silom 
Team of Bethel and Union AA of Lansdowne in the Delaware River League.  He 
retired as Boothwyn Postmaster five years ago after 40 years of service.  He was also 
a member of the board of directors of the Fidelity Bank of Chester. Source: Delaware
