Dorothy "Dottie" Yarnall Dougherty, 77, of Elverson, Chester County, a retired 
teacher, died Sept. 14 at home. 

Born in West Grove, Chester County, she was a 1949 graduate of West Fallowfield 
High School and a 1953 graduate of Millersville State Teachers College. 

Mrs. Dougherty taught at Glen Acres Elementary School in West Chester, Chester 
County, before her retirement in 1992. She previously taught kindergarten and second 
grade for the Chichester and West Chester area school districts. 

Mrs. Dougherty was a longtime member of the Pennsylvania State Education 
Association and the National Education Association. A former member of the Calvary 
Lutheran Church in West Chester, she attended Living God Lutheran Church in Honey 
Brook, Chester County. 

Mrs. Dougherty enjoyed church activities, sewing and spending time with her children 
and grandchildren. She was devoted to her family. Mrs. Dougherty was the daughter 
of the late Augustus Joshua and Alice Baker Yarnall. 

Survivors: Husband of 56 years, John F. Dougherty; one son, Dr. Raymond Dougherty 
of Vacaville, Calif.; one daughter, Leslie Solomon of Ellicott City, Md.; five 
grandchildren. 

Service: 11 a.m. Oct. 3 at Calvary Lutheran Church, 730 S. New St., West Chester, 
with luncheon to follow. 

Visitation: 10 a.m. Oct. 3 at the church. 

Burial: Private.

PA 19380.
