MATTOON - Mark Hitchner, 59, of Mattoon, passed away after a long battle with 
cancer at 7:50 p.m. on Thursday, November 8, 2012 at Palm Terrace of Mattoon. 

 There are no services planned at this time. Schilling Funeral Home in Mattoon is 
assisting the family with arrangements. 

 Mark was born on April 16, 1953 in Bridgeton, New Jersey the son of David and 
Katherine (Ferguson) Hitchner. 

 He was preceded in death by his father, David Hitchner. 

 Survivors include his fiancé, Sheila Freshwater of Mattoon; mother, Katherine 
Hitchner of Mattoon; his cousin Bonnie Lane of Neoga, and caregivers DeAnn St. 
Michael and Karen Pruitt. 

 Mark graduated from Mattoon High School in 1971. He later lived in Denver, Colorado 
most of his life. Mark enjoyed collecting both watches and model cars. He was an 
animal lover and especially loved his cats. Mark was a former member of First United 
Methodist Church in Mattoon.
