Charles W. "Chuck" Lipchik Jr
Charles W. (Chuck) Lipchik, Jr., 71, of Canadohta Lake, died suddenly on Tuesday,
February 2, 2011 at Clear Water Beach, Fla. while on vacation. He was born in Erie
on September 8, 1939, a son of the late Charles W. and Ann Conzel Lipchik, Sr.
Chuck graduated from the former Erie Technical High School.
He then entered the U.S. Navy, attaining the rank of P03.
He and his wife owned and operated the Frog Pond Restaurant at Canadohta Lake for
the past 32 years. Prior to that, Chuck had owned the gas station at 6th and Parade
Streets, the Nice Clean Laundry at 7th and Parade Streets and the Coach and Four at
8th and Parade Street, all in Erie.
In earlier years, Chuck and his father won the Father/Son Erie City Tournament. He
continued his love for golf the rest of his life. He was an ardent Pittsburgh Steeler fan
and was looking forward to this years Super Bowl. He also enjoyed watching horse
races and playing the horses.
He was a member of the Union City Moose Lodge, the Titusville Elks and the
Cambridge Springs Masons.
Chuck is survived by his wife, Leah Jean Emery Lipchik, two brothers, Jack Lipchik
and Richard (Ruth) Lipchik, both of Erie; a son, Charles Lipchik, III, of N. Fort Myers,
Fla., a daughter, Shelly (Mark) Wilmoth, Erie; two step-daughters, Nancy (Jim)
Anderson, Corry and Susan (Dean) Rogers, Cambridge Springs and one step-son,
Scott Dingfelder, Corry. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, six great
grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the C. S. Warthman Funeral Home, Union City, on Monday from 2-4
and 7-9 p.m. and are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday at 10:00
a.m. at St. Teresa's Church, 9 Third Ave., Union City with Rev. F. Thomas Suppa
officiating.
Burial with full military honors will be at St. Teresa's Cemetery, Union City.
