Barbara M. Phelps, 63, of Lewisburg, died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2003, at Hospice 
of Dayton. She was born Nov. 15, 1940, in Dayton. She was a member of Lewisburg 
United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her father, Lowell Richard 
Mt.Castle; sisters, Norma Wiest, June Mt.Castle and an infant sister. 

Survivors include her husband, Kenneth L. Phelps, whom she married Sept. 7, 
1963; sons, Kenneth R. (Amy) Phelps of West Manchester and Kyle Phelps of 
Lewisburg; grandsons, Tyler, Ethan and Landon Phelps; mother, Helen Winifred 
(Sortman) Mt.Castle of Lewisburg. Also surviving are brothers and sisters, Betty 
Sue (Ray) Bratton of Kentucky, Marjorie (Bob) Salmonsen and Nita (Don) Nydam, 
both of Pennsylvania, Lowell Lee (Marsha) Mt.Castle of West Manchester, Donna 
(Jerry) Sturm, Jim Mt.Castle and Carl (Shirley) Mt.Castle, all of Lewisburg; 
brother-in-law, Edson Wiest of Arcanum; numerous nieces and nephews. 

Graveside services were Friday, Dec. 26, at Preble Memory Gardens, West 
Alexandria. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 2, at 
Lewisburg United Methodist Church, 200 W. Dayton St., Lewisburg, with Pastor 
Mike Pratt officiating. Robert L. Crooks Funeral Center at Preble Memory 
Gardens, West Alexandria, is in charge of arrangements.
