Kenneth A. Hammer, 65, lost his courageous battle with cancer while surrounded by 
his loving family, April 12, 2014. Kenneth or as everyone called him. “Kenny”, was born 
October 25, 1948, to Carlis and Donna Hammer.

 Kenny grew up in Idaho Falls and loved his childhood and teenage years. After high 
school he enlisted in the United States Navy and traveled the world for four years.

 On his return, he was reunited with Dawnece Nelson. Kenny and Dawnece were 
married and blessed with four wonderful children. He loved his children more than 
anything in the world. He and Dawnece were later divorced.

 Kenny was happy raising his children. He started working for the INL at the SMC 
Plant. The great people at SMC were more like a family than coworkers. Kenny loved 
playing darts and actually became one of the most respected dart players in the area.

 In 1995, Ken met Leslee Cox and they were both just smitten with each other. They 
were married and blended his four children with hers. They made a wonderful family. 
Ken and Leslee worked hard and were able to retire and buy a winter home in St. 
George, Utah. They did get to spend one year in St. George before Ken was 
diagnosed with multiple myeloma.

 Ken is survived by his loving wife Leslee; mother, Donna Hammer of Idaho Falls; 
daughter, Teri (Tige) Wright; son, Ryan (Jessica) Hammer; and Brandon Hammer, all of 
Idaho Falls; Robert Hammer of Australia; stepson Daniel (Kristine) Cox of Middleton, 
Idaho; and stepdaughter Laura (Lance) Linsenmann of Ririe; brother, Steve (Misty) 
Hammer of Salt Lake City; sister, Shirley (Pete) Hedenstrom of Prineville, OR; sixteen 
grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

 Ken was preceded in death by his father Carlis, his brother Terry DeWayne, and his 
stepson Brian Cox.

 Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at Wood Funeral 
Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue. The family will meet with friends from 10-10:45 a.m. 
prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Fielding Memorial Park 
Cemetery.
