Michael J. McPheters a 33-year resident of West Chicago Michael J. McPheters, 71, 
formerly of Winfield, passed away Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012. He was born March 15, 
1941, in Salt Lake City, UT, and raised in Ketchum, ID. He received his bachelor's 
degree in mathematics from Carroll College of Helena, MT, his master's degree from 
Fordham University of Bronx, NY and his MBA from the University of Chicago. He 
worked at AT&T-Bell Labs for 34 years until his retirement. He was a longtime member 
of St. John the Baptist Parish in Winfield. He devoted his life to his faith, family, 
fishing and the culture of life. He is survived by his wife, Carol of 47 years; his 
children, Michael J. (Judith), Joy (William) McMahon, Laura (James) Kosmach and 
John P. (Ashley); his grandchildren, Victoria and Nicole McPheters, Anthony, 
Michaela, Timothy, Josephine, Johnathan and Rosemary McMahon and Jimmy 
Kosmach; his siblings, Roseanne (the late Tom) Wrenn, Jean (John) Weaver and 
Christine Jackman; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his 
brother, Steve. Visitation will be Wednesday, from 3 to 8 p.m. at Williams-Kampp 
Funeral Home, 430 E. Roosevelt Road (one block east of Naperville Road), Wheaton. 
A funeral Mass will be Thursday, at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, 0S233 
Church St., Winfield, IL 60190. Please meet at church. Interment will be in Assumption 
Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society 
Food Pantry at St. John the Baptist Church or Waterleaf Women's Center, 2849 E.
