Rocky Mountain News (CO) — Friday, October 9, 1992
63, of Littleton died Sept. 9 at home. Services and burial were Sept. 14 in Fort Logan 
National Cemetery. Mr. Townsend was born in McPhee. He was an instructor at 
Denver Automotive and Diesel College. Mr. Townsend was a veteran of the Air Force. 
Survivors include his wife, Shirley; two sons, Richard and Michael of Lakewood; one 
daughter, Valerie Shaffer of Lakewood; a sister, Shirley Garner of Salt Lake City; three 
stepchildren; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-
grandchild. Contributions: American Heart Association.
