 Everett L. Schneider, 84, lifetime Fort Collins resident, died Saturday at
 Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins.
 Schneider was born March 27, 1919, in Fort Collins to Henry W. and Charlotte
 (Geist) Schneider. He started his love for automobiles when he was a boy
 working for his dad in his gas station.

 He graduated from Fort Collins High School. He married Lucille Grennwalt on
 Oct. 8, 1939, in Fort Collins. She died in 1968. He was a veteran of World
 War II, serving in the Navy in the Pacific on the USS Saratoga as a fireman.
 After the war he came back to start work at Markley Motors as a mechanic for
 20 years, Schneider Garage for 19 years and Poudre School District for 15
 years as head mechanic.

 Schneider was active in the Fort Collins Elks No. 804 and was Elk of the
 month in 1988. Since 1952 he was also a member of the Poudre School District
 Retirees, First Presbyterian Church and was just awarded his 50-year
 membership award by the Pioneer Club.

 He married N. Meryl Harlan Brokaw on March 20, 1979.

 Survivors include his wife, N. Meryl Harlan Brokaw Schneider of Fort
 Collins; a daughter, Karen Devlin of Fort Collins; a stepdaughter, Patti
 Lewis of Fort Morgan; stepsons, Larry Brokaw of Greeley and Lynn Brokaw of
 Portland, Ore.; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

 He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Lucille; one
 brother, Lloyd Schneider, and one sister, Roene Winter.

 Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Bohlender Funeral Chapel,
 121 W. Olive, Fort Collins, with Rev. Rich McDermott officiating. Interment
 will be in the Grandview Cemetery in Fort Collins.

 Memorial contributions may be made to Everett Schneider Scholarship Memorial
 Fund or the Alzheimer's Association.

Bohlender Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
