Guyla M. Cowles Breiding, 86, formerly of Franklin Twp. died at Pleasant Ridge Manor 
West where she resided on Wednesday April 11, 2007. Guyla was born September 20, 
1920 in Bolivar, New York, a daughter of the late Edgar and Mae Brown Cowles. 
1930 in Bolivar, Allegany Co., N.Y.

She attended Bolivar High School. Later moving to the Erie area in 1945 and then to 
the Fairview/Girard area in 1952, where she has resided since. She assisted her 
husband on a small family farm on Rt. 98 for many years and also worked as a cook. 
She belonged to the Tri-Boro Senior Citizens Center and enjoyed crocheting and 
sports, including baseball and basketball. 

She was preceded in death by her husband William A. Breiding whom she married July 
14, 1944 in Bolivar N.Y.; also by three sisters, Edith D. Bell, Virginia R. “Babe” Callins 
and Edwina C. “Tilley” Fulton; a brother, William E. Cowles and a grandson Michael 
Still. She is survived by a daughter, Gloria J. Still of Union City; three sons, Richard 
W. Breiding and his wife Nancy of McKean, Robert P. Breiding and his wife Judith of 
Girard, Ralph D. Breiding and his wife Diane of Girard; a sister, Gail M. Ritzmen of 
Milton, Wis.; Seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren and several nieces and 
nephews. 

Friends may call on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at Noon at 
Daniel R. Edder Funeral Home, 309 Main St. East Girard. Rev. Franklin Klein Chaplin 
at Pleasant Ridge Manor West will officiate. Burial will be in the Sterrettania Cemetery. 
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the activity fund at Pleasant Ridge Manor 
West 8300 West Ridge Rd. Girard, PA 16417.
