Virginia (Ginnie Yell) Smith, 57, of Petoskey, died March 2, 2004. 

 A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday, March 6, at St. Francis Xavier 
Church in Petoskey. A memorial gathering will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of 
service in the gathering space at the church. 

 Ginnie was born on June 28, 1946, in Petoskey, the daughter of Abraham "Abe" J. 
Yell Jr., and Doris Virginia (Briel) Yell. Virginia attended St. Francis School in 
Petoskey. 

 She worked in the health care field in Petoskey for the last 20 years. 

 Ginnie really enjoyed playing bingo. 

 She is survived by one son, Chester Abraham Yell, of Petoskey; and the pride and joy 
of her life, her granddaughter, Elizabeth "Lizzie" Grace Yell. Ginnie is also survived by 
one sister, Lynda (Bill) Christensen of Boyne City; and two brothers, John (Pam) Yell 
and Jim (Teresa) Yell, all of Petoskey; three nephews and three nieces and several 
uncles and aunts. 

 Ginnie was preceded in death by her parents, Abe and Doris Yell, and grandparents, 
Abe and Fannie Yell and Elizabeth Briel. 

 In lieu of flowers, the family has set up an education fund for Elizabeth Yell and 
memorial donations may be sent in care of Lynda Christensen. 

 Virginia's family would like to express their appreciation for the excellent care and 
support given to Virginia by the nursing staff at CVU of Northern Michigan Hospital 
and especially Dr. Ling. 

 Arrangements were handled by Stone Funeral Home in Petoskey.
