Mae Louise Witter, 73, died Friday morning in her home in Pineland, TX, after an 
illness. Mae was born in Two Rivers, Wisconsin, to Alton J. and Mildred Kaminsky 
Berg. She moved to Sabine Pass at an early age while her father was in the U.S. 
Coast Guard. Mae worked as a CNA in the Gaspard Nursing Home in Port Acres, TX. 
Mae moved to Pineland 25 years ago and was a member of the Hemphill Missionary 
Baptist Church. 

She is survived by her daughter Leslie Grant and husband Ernest of Byhalia, MS, her 
son Charles Leon Witter of Lumberton, her brother Richard Dickie Berg of Henderson, 
LA, her sister Carol Ann Alexander of Winnfield, LA, four grandchildren, Joseph 
Johnson, Craig, Jason and Kimberly Witter and seven great grandchildren. 

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2011, in the 
Springhill Cemetery near Hemphill. There will be visitation from 9:00 AM until service 
time in the Starr Funeral Home, 510 Starr St., Hemphill, TX.
